Each summer players come from all across the country, from California to Florida, to Springfield to compete in the Prospect League. As amateur athletes these players rely on Host Families to provide them a home away from home during their summer stay in Springfield.
As the number of out of town players has increased so has our need for families to host these players. Being a host family is easy and is a great way to provide support for a young man chasing his dreams of playing professional baseball. Many of our past host families have developed long lasting relationships with these young men that extend well beyond baseball. These players often become part of the family, sharing memories with your family that will last a lifetime. And who knows...you may be hosting a future MLB star!
Host families are an essential piece of the Sliders organization and allow us to continue to make the Prospect League and Springfield a desired destination for baseball players from all parts of the country.
All you need to provide as a host family is a spare bed and room and a few meals when the player is not travelling. The Sliders play 60 games in 69 days so there isn't a lot of downtime for the players and knowing that they have a safe, comfortable place to go after a long road trip is one less thing we all have to worry about.
To go along with our eternal gratitude, as a host family you will also receive a few perks from the Sliders like season tickets, giveaways and invitations to team meals and events!
