Springfield, IL. - The Sliders are excited to announce adding former MLB Pitcher Eric Hillman to the team!
Eric Hillman played High School baseball at Homewood-Flossmoor in suburban Chicago.
He was drafted out of Eastern Illinois University and spent 3years in the MLB with the New York Mets from '92-'94.
Bobby Valentine took him to Japan where he pitched from '95-'98.
In 1996 he was the all-star game MVP and Pitcher of the Year and first Non-japanese recipient of the Best 9 award since 1964.
After his playing career he was a Fox Sports Baseball Analyst for the Colorado Rockies.
Coach McDevitt said, "I've known Eric for a long time. We share the same philosophies on how the game should be played. His knowledge and experience will be invaluable to our pitching staff, especially in the area of how to approach the game mentally. Really looking forward to working with him."
